Spirulina (250 g.) – What is spirulina?
Spirulina (250 g.) is an ancient (~3.6 billion years ago) microscopic multicellular blue-green algae (an intermediate life form between algae and plants), more commonly known as a blue-green algae. Spirulina grows in alkaline water bodies in hot climates with plenty of sun. It produces energy from carbon dioxide and sunlight by photosynthesis. It grows in spiral filaments and reproduces rapidly by breaking off segments of the spiral. Spirulina is rich in a variety of nutrients, balanced in a way that ideally suits the needs of the human body.
The microscopic plant Spirulina is harvested from uncontaminated ponds in southern China. The spiral-shaped green algae is dried by natural spray-evaporation, which allows the Spirulina powder to be extracted and the nutritional value of the algae to be maintained.
